What happens after the Volcano?

Merapi volcano (everyone in Indonesia had one name) was talked about as a person - or it least it came across that way in English.  Major eruptions in 2006 and Nov 2010 (~350 people killed)

We had our driver, drive us up to the mountain.  We were stopped and paid a couple thousand IR to get past the "gate" and then into the community that has moved back into area and are ..... not really sure - you decide.

We hiked up the hill - 20% grade to get a view of the area being rebuilt

 

Made me think of Lord of the Rings - Mordor (or the scree surrounding Mt Fuji) - more greener here - the jungle will conquer all I guess (given enough time)

A sticky rice local Indonesian combo - we also got a peanut butter patty that the condiments were tiny jalepeno like peppers.  We were hungry enough it was all good.

We should have gotten pictures of all the people waiting for someone to come by their shop and buy something - seemed like some long waits ............

If the volcano exploded in 2006, 2010 and is one of the most active volcano's in the world - rebuilding seems like a fools errand - every couple of years - nature will reshape the landscape to look like this.  But if you have nothing else -and no title ot the land - I guess you stay for lack of other alternatives.
